This is a stretch velvet, keep that in mind when considering the project you are using it for. If you are using it for clothing it is best to use it for apparel that is meant to fit snug against the body.
Velvet is a directional fabric, being aware of the "pet" of the velvet is important when working with it. When you run your hand along the correct direction of the fabric, the pile will feel smooth. When you run your hand along the wrong direction of the fabric, the sensation will be less smooth and more rough.
