If you would like one full sheet of silk lap order 2 pounds and make a note that you do not want it cut. One full sheet is about 2 pound, sometimes 2 pounds 2 ounces.
2 pounds of silk lap are about the size of a cal king mattress...just the top, not hanging over the side.
Silk laps are layers and layers and layers of stretched silk caps over a big frame. They are traditionally used for quilt batting of high end quilts.
Fiber folk dye them, spin or use them in felting projects.
They dye beautifully with acid dyes and spin with a wonderful texture
There are a few photos to show you how I dyed and spun them. A friend wove the yarn into a wonderful scarf.
