Cocoon strippings are the outer layer of a silk cocoon that are a waste product from the silk industry. They are silk fibers that are stripped from the cocoons with some natural gum still attached. The gum can be activated by heat and moisture, which allows the fibers to bond together. Cocoon strippings can be used for papermaking or to add effects to projects.
These can be dyed with acid dyes are are a great feature and texture for silk paper making.
