Overview:
Railroads across the country found the Atlantic type well suited for fast passenger service until steel cars and longer consists meant upgrading to Pacific’s by the 1910s. Long after this however, the 4-4-2 remained valuable on smaller trains, especially when speed between closer stations was important. Many railroads modernized their early Atlantics and kept them running well into the 1940s and 1950s. Lionel's Atlantics have plenty of power for the trains on your railroad. With their compact size, they're perfect for smaller layouts. Though they may be small, they remain packed with all the great LEGACY features including whistle steam. Available in new roads and paint schemes, these high-driver horses are ready for that limited, local or milk run!
