Black Taro (Colocasia esculenta 'Black Magic') is a striking addition to any garden, with its deep purple-black leaves that are sure to make a statement. This plant thrives in fertile, organically rich soil that is kept consistently moist, whether in full sun or part shade.
Best suited for Hardiness Zones 8-11, this Taro variety grows to heights of 2-3 feet and spreads 12-24 inches wide. It can also be grown as a pond marginal in up to 6 inches of standing water.
For optimal growth, provide regular moisture, especially during dry summer periods, and avoid allowing the soil to dry out. Regular fertilization during the growing season will help this plant produce abundant growth.
