Hariwake (HAH ree WAH keh) Koi fish are a two-color fish with a platinum white metallic base and either yellow (Yamabuki) or Orange pattern overlaying. Hariwake Koi should have a bright white platinum base and a clear white head. The bright, luminous white of Hariwake differs from the softer, matte-white of Kohaku and Sanke. Hariwake with a bright yellow pattern are commonly referred to as Lemon Hariwake. The color pattern should balanced with clear defined edges. Variations of Hariwake may also include Doitsu Hariwake (scaleless, also known as Kikusui.) or Gin Rin Hariwake (diamond scale glitters).
